Author: Joseph Conrad
Publisher: William Blackwood and Sons
Place of Publication: Edinburgh and London
Year Published: 1902
First edition, first state with 32-page advertisement at rear, dated 10/02. Bound in publisher’s green cloth, black lettering to front, gilt lettering to spine with black decoration. Volume would be deemed fine except for very faint rubbing to corners. No PO marks, every page is clean, just beginning to faintly tone brown around the edges. Text block is square and strong. This is the first bound appearance of the Heart of Darkness, originally published as a three-part serial story in Blackwood’s Magazine (Feb. 1899). Adapted several times (Orsen Welles starred in a radio production in November of 1939), many of us remember the 1979 film Apocalypse Now which was based on this volume.
